Fly-Tipped Waste

Location: North Wales
Waste Situation: Fly Tipped Waste

Solution: After initial assessment to determine if chemicals, asbestos or other hazardous waste was present, manual handling equipment was used to load the mixed waste material into skips for onward disposal. The site was cleared so no further danger to health of the public or the environment.

Chemicals for Council managed recycling park/civic amenity site

Location: North Wales
Waste Situation: Various chemicals from householders many in unlabeled and not original packaging

Solution: Every container is inspected, identified and packed into appropriate Drums for ADR transport to legally compliant/licenced transfer station for onward recycling, treatment or waste-to-energy routes.

Two Refridgerated Containers

Location: North Wales
Waste Situation: Two Refridgerated containers had been used for structure (walls) of a transport maintenance area, the tenant had gone into liquidation.

Solution: Analysis undertaken on the interior foam, as due to the age of the containers the presence and % concentration of any CFC’s/HFC’s were unknown. Analysis confirmed the containers did contains CFC’s and HFC’s at a concentration which deemed the containers Hazardous Waste (similar scenario of waste fridges, freezers and air conditioning units). Cranes were used to lift each of the refridgerated containers on a flat-bed artic vehicle before disposal at a legally compliant/licensed disposal facility. The landlord was then in a position to lease the site again.

Warehouse – cleared of chemicals prior to auction

Location: North Yorkshire
Waste Situation: An old mill approx. 3900 sq m was due to be auctioned as previous tenant had gone into liquidation leaving a substantial amount of chemical waste on the property.

Solution: Fully qualified chemist listed, segregated and packed all the chemicals on site , which was a mixture of chlorinated and non-chlorinated solvents, powder coatings, inks, dyes, aerosols ready for onward transport and disposal to a legally compliant/licensed disposal facility. The site was then clear of hazardous chemicals and the sale by auction could then proceed.

Land clearance prior to handover back to landlord

Location: Wirral
Waste Situation: Large piece of land which over time had attracted a large amount of litter, potential of needles and considerable overgrowth of greenery and shrubbery.

Solution: A team of trained and appropriately dressed (PPE for potential of needle-stick injuries) clearing the site of all waste, with all shrubbery chipped on site to reduce transport costs and ease of recycling of “green” waste. The land was then successfully handed back to the landlord with no financial penalties.

Redundant drums left for new tenants

Location: Flintshire
Waste Situation: New tenants moved into an industrial unit to find two waste drums at the back of the property.

Solution: After identifying the contents of the drum was gas oil which falls under the ADR regulations. The contents had to be re-pumped into appropriate UN Approved drums for safe and legal transport to a legally compliant disposal site. The old drums were also removed leaving the site clean and free of a potential environmental pollution situation.

45,000 litre tank for disposal

Location: Manchester
Waste Situation: Large Tank Removal for disposal

Solution: After a handling assessment, arranged a crane to collect the tank and taken to a recycling facility where a rebate for the subsequent chipped material was made.

Chiller Unit

Location: Flintshire
Waste Situation: Chiller unit left by company which had gone into administration.

Solution: After a Handling assessment arranged a MOFFETT to collect the unit and taken to a suitable licensed disposal site. The unit was then able to be re-let immediately.

Nova Centre

Location: Prestatyn, Denbighshire
Waste Situation: Swimming pool Chemicals, Tank Cleaning and Removal

Solution: Removed swimming pool chemicals (corrosive and oxidisers), tank cleaning crew (confined space trained) cleaned tank and then at a later date tank removed when found not suitable.
